Expedited Psychiatry Access for Residents & Fellows
In order to support the mental health needs of our UCSD Trainees, the UCSD GME Wellness Office and UCSD Department of Psychiatry (DOP) are pleased to announce the DOP Expedited Access for UCSD Residents and Fellows.
Residents and Fellows can call 619-543-5221 to start the process.
***At the start of the call, please inform the call center agent that you are a UCSDH Trainee and wish to get an appointment via the Expedited Access for UCSD Health GME Physicians Program.
Director of Wellness
Dr. Julie Çelebi is the Director of Wellness for Graduate Medical Education (GME) and an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, with a secondary appointment in the Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health. Dr. Çelebi completed her residency in Family Medicine at O'Connor Hospital in San Jose, Calif., and earned her medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. She also holds a Master of Science from Wayne State University. She practices the full breadth of primary care for patients of all ages, with special interests in reproductive health, LGBTQ+ healthcare, and care for the medically underserved. In addition to her role as Wellness Director for the Department of Family Medicine, Dr. Çelebi also serves as a Well-Being Educator for the American Academy of Family Physicians. She is passionate about educating and mentoring medical students, residents, and other colleagues in medicine. Dr. Çelebi co-directs the Compassionate Action and Real Engagement in the Community (CARE) course at the School of Medicine and is a co-leader for the Sanford Institute's Center for Compassionate Communication Affiliate Faculty program.
Dr. Çelebi is grateful for her longtime partner and two young children. She enjoys hikes with her family, crafting poetry and reflective writing, and finding clarity and peace through yoga, dance, and meditation. She is excited to serve in this role to advocate for a comprehensive approach to resident well-being and promote a culture of inclusivity and belonging.

Resource Spotlight: Headspace Care
Headspace Care offers 24/7 on-request mental health support and behavioral coaching. GME physicians have free access with UCSD email. To get started with Headspace Care, download the Headspace Care app, select your sponsor, and enter your basic identity info.
**All UC residents and fellows, and their dependents, who are age 18 and older and enrolled in a UC residents and fellows medical plan, are eligible to use Headspace Care.
